Find answers about connecting sites, managing content, and using Aubly.
Getting Started
What is Aubly?
Aubly is a content management platform that connects to your websites (WordPress, Drupal, Shopify, BigCommerce, and more) to help you scan, edit, improve, and publish content from one central dashboard. It includes content health scoring, smart rewriting suggestions, and instant rollback.
How do I get started?
Sign up for a free account, then connect your first site. For WordPress, install the Aubly Client plugin and use the pairing code to connect. For Drupal, install the Aubly module. For Shopify and BigCommerce, authorize via OAuth from the Add Site page.
Which platforms does Aubly support?
Aubly currently supports WordPress, WooCommerce, Drupal, Shopify, and BigCommerce. Wix and Magento support is coming soon. Each platform has a dedicated connector for reliable content sync and publishing.
Do I need to install anything on my site?
For WordPress and Drupal, yes — a lightweight plugin/module handles secure communication. For Shopify and BigCommerce, no installation is needed — you authorize via OAuth from the Aubly dashboard.
Connecting Sites
How does the pairing code work?
The Aubly plugin generates a short-lived pairing code (expires in 10 minutes). You enter it in the Aubly dashboard along with your site URL. The plugin then securely claims its credentials from Aubly — no inbound connections to your site are needed, so firewalls and Cloudflare won't interfere.
Can I connect multiple sites?
Yes. The number of sites you can connect depends on your plan. Free accounts can connect 1 site, Solo allows 3, Pro allows 10, and Team/Agency plans offer unlimited sites. Sites can be across different platforms.
What if my site is behind Cloudflare?
Aubly's pairing flow is designed to work behind Cloudflare and other WAFs. The plugin makes outbound calls to Aubly (never blocked by your firewall) rather than Aubly calling your site. Once paired, content operations use API keys that Cloudflare allows through.
Can I re-pair a site without deleting it?
Yes. Go to your site's detail page and click 'Re-pair'. Generate a new pairing code in your WordPress/Drupal admin, enter it in Aubly, and the connection refreshes. All your content history and snapshots are preserved.
Content Management
What is a content scan?
A scan analyzes your synced content for issues like risky health claims, thin pages (too few words), keyword stuffing, generic-sounding copy, and more. Issues are ranked by severity (critical, high, medium, low) with specific suggestions for improvement.
Can I roll back changes?
Yes. Every time you publish through Aubly, pre-change and post-change snapshots are saved. You can view diffs between any two snapshots and roll back to any previous version with one click. History is never deleted.
What happens to content deleted from my site?
When you sync, content that no longer exists on your remote site is moved to the Archive. Archived content retains all snapshots and can be restored (re-published) at any time. Nothing is permanently lost unless you explicitly delete it from the archive.
Can I create new content from Aubly?
Yes. Go to any connected site and click 'New Content'. You can write manually, or type a title and click 'Generate Content' to have Aubly create a full page based on your site's context. Then publish directly to your site.
Does Aubly change content without my approval?
Never. Aubly only publishes when you explicitly click Publish. All suggestions are just that — suggestions. You review, edit, and approve everything before it goes live.
Billing & Plans
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The free plan includes 1 connected site, 5 scans per month, 10 smart requests, and 25 synced content items. No credit card required to start.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. No long-term contracts. Cancel from your billing settings at any time. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
What counts as a 'smart request'?
Smart requests include content generation, rewriting suggestions, compliance checks, and other analysis powered by our content engine. Each action that processes your content counts as one request.
Security & Privacy
Is my data secure?
Yes. API keys and passwords are encrypted at rest. All communication uses HTTPS. We never store your WordPress/Drupal admin passwords — we use API keys generated specifically for Aubly with limited permissions.
Can I revoke Aubly's access?
Yes. Disconnect from the Aubly dashboard or deactivate the plugin on your site. Both actions immediately revoke the API key. You can also rotate keys at any time without disconnecting.
Does Aubly train AI models on my content?
No. Your content is processed for analysis and suggestions only. It is not used to train any AI models. We use third-party providers (OpenAI, Anthropic) under data processing agreements that prohibit training on customer data.
